Mexico City Blondes - "Fade"
“Fade”, the debut song from Mexico City Blondes, is the kind of song that I wouldn't expect to work. I say this because it is elementary and straightforward and otherwise "simple", or at least that's what I thought at first. I'm not sure if it's the minute distortions to the guitar riff, the remarkably well-composed vocals, that the song IS so spartan, or some combination of the above. Regardless of the reason, Mexico City Blondes have managed to put together a song that feels, well, "cool."
